Unlike Handpumps which are made of hundreds of parts, the PVC Pipe has one raw materials which accounts for most of its cost : PVC Resin. Only a few large companies in India make PVC Resin and they supply this resin to everubody at approx. the same price. Moreover, the conversion cost of making this PVC Resin into PVC Pipes is also fixed for any standard company.
Why does then the price of these pipes differ so much between companies?
The answer lies in the the purity of this PVC pipe or in other worlds the amount of resin in the pipe as a percentage.The amount of resin can be decreased and a "filler" can be added this can be done until the pipe has more filler than resin and while this decreases the cost dramatically,the pipe becomes almost worhtles since it will degrade very quickly when in use.
We only supply pipes which are made almost entirely of pure resin. The easiest way to test the purity of the pipe is by sending a small piece to a standard laboratory for "Ash Content "
